Dr. Marek A. Wójtowicz is the Vice President for Clean Energy and Carbon Materials at Advanced Fuel Research, Inc. (AFR), a private contract research and development and consulting firm in East Hartford, Connecticut. He has extensive expertise in carbon materials, energy and fuels, coal and biomass conversion, air-pollution control, greenhouse-gas mitigation, solid-waste conversion and utilization, and hydrogen production and storage. He has more than 120 papers and several patents in these areas.
He acted as the Program Secretary (1999-2003) of the Fuel Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), was elected the Division Chair for 2005, and since 2007 he has served as a Trustee of the Division of Energy and Fuels Trust Fund.
In 2017 Dr. Wójtowicz was elected a Fellow of the ACS, one of the highest honors given by this organization for scholarship and science.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Applied Mathematics, both from Brown University.
